1975 - 1980 I went to the Byam Shaw and Camberwell School of Art in London.
I came back home to New Zealand and became interested in painting portraits. Just to see how I was doing I entered two portraits in consecutive years into the National Portraits competition in London. To my surprise they were accepted which led me to paint lots of portraits and meet lots of different people over the years.

Recently I have enjoyed being out painting in our wonderful NZ landscape, while soaking up the smells and sounds of the environment.

We were brought up on a South Canterbury farm.
Our Grandmother Esther Hope was a great influence. She was a renowned landscape artist who lived on the Grampians Station and painted throughout the Mackenzie Country. She also designed the Tekapo Church of the Good Shepherd.
